The Lions: In the Clear

Posted by
Mooie (Vancouver, Canada) on 24 July 2013 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Remember the view from Monday? This is directly behind that. The two sharp domes are the infamous Lions... I guess the idea is that far away they look like two lions sitting sphinx style overlooking the bay. Personally I think that interpretation leaves a lot to the imagination, but they are the two most noticeable peaks from downtown Vancouver and appear on billions of post cards. The one on the left is the east lions and is too treacherous to climb, but the one on the right is the west lion... the destination.

I am not sure how or when, but posting on this blog has become my most accurate platform for creative expression. It's so inspiring to browse through other blogs and every comment is very appreciated!

Cool shot of the lions and sky. The dead tree adds to the story, too.

Abena from Illinois, United States

Ahh, love this! Makes me feel like it just doesn't go any higher, feels like I'm sky high too! Indeed I can imagine how treacherous the left one would be. The blues look brilliantly cool and the right is = Destination brilliant!

25 Jul 2013 3:49am

@Abena: Even though the path sort of skirts around to the right an up the backside, there were a few parts covered in snow that were a bit sketchy. We ended up stopping on the bluff on the right, and did not climb to the top of the west lion. It looked VERY sketchy and we watched a lot of people really struggle getting down... like taking 10 minutes to travel 30 feet.
