The Lions: Rest Stop

Posted by
Mooie (Vancouver, Canada) on 22 July 2013 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

The first in a series of shots I took during a hike this weekend.

The Lions Binkert Trail is not a hike for the faint of heart. It's a 16km round trip through the mountainside with 1280 meters of elevation gain and offers THE BEST view of the area I've lived in for most of my life. This is a view from about 2/3 of the way to the top.

Hipstamatic 266 1/4608 second F/2.4 ISO 50 5 mm

I am not sure how or when, but posting on this blog has become my most accurate platform for creative expression. It's so inspiring to browse through other blogs and every comment is very appreciated!

@Curly: Thank you for introducing me to the word painterly, which is an actual word recognized by wikipedia and Merriam-Webster and not made up as I originally thought.

Outstanding shot! Did you do it all in one day, or carry camping kit, and split it into 2? Either way round, you must be aching

Love the rays, and the silhouetted trees make a great foreground for the receding water and islands.

Abena from Illinois, United States

That is wicked!! Seriously, if that is only 2/3's of the way up it must have been epic. I love the pov here and the way the sunlight plays on that vastness of blue space. It's truly awesome.

24 Jul 2013 3:25am

@Abena: It was probably the most spectacular view I've seen with my own two eyes... but one heck of a hike!

Basile Pesso from Barcelona, Spain
