Riders up

Posted by
Mooie (Vancouver, Canada) on 19 June 2013 in Sport & Recreation and Portfolio.

That's what you call out when you run into other bikers on a trail... it means get out of the way :-) These are a few of the folks I ride with fairly regularly and this was a little break we had during a "pedally death-like march of the north shore mountains"

Hipstamatic 262 1/60 second F/2.4 ISO 64 5 mm

I am not sure how or when, but posting on this blog has become my most accurate platform for creative expression. It's so inspiring to browse through other blogs and every comment is very appreciated!

@eligreg: Thank you... they all know me well enough to just keep on keepin' on whenever I start maneuvering for a shot :-)

@Sarito: Thanks a lot... it's hipstamatic Libatique lens and dream canvas film :-)

CElliottUK from Reading, United Kingdom

Confused. So you both shout it at the same time, which one moves? Over here, on the flat, it's everyone for themselves, on a hill, the people going up have priority.

19 Jun 2013 12:22pm

@CElliottUK: Oh! So... you'd really only say it if you were stopped in the middle of the path, which bikers do quite often for a chat/rest or to get ready for a stunt.... and you'd be letting your gang know they should get out of the way. The same rules apply here.. flats a free for all and hills are for the climbers

Abena from Illinois, United States

I see why they're called mountain bikes :-) but through the thick of that forest, it looks both tough and fun! riders up actually sounds polite thanks for the new term! I love the beauty in and Rick show such gorgeous Canadian forest scenes and it looks brilliant to me, great shot!

@Abena: Oh it's sooo much fun, it's addictive, especially if you like a challenge :-) Mtn bikers are a surprisingly friendly breed of people... I think because it's a way to relieve stress we are all kind of mellowed out halfway through a ride

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States
