Blanket of Snow Geese

Posted by
Mooie (Vancouver, Canada) on 30 April 2013 in Animal & Insect.

Alright so it's not really a blanket snow geese so much as a tattered fray of the massive flock that had just taken off in a blizzard of beating wings. Which of course I didn't manage to capture because I was working. But how cool is it when you can stop to watch a flock of snow geese take off in the middle of the suburbs?

I am not sure how or when, but posting on this blog has become my most accurate platform for creative expression. It's so inspiring to browse through other blogs and every comment is very appreciated!

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

Great capture, that'll stop them playing on the pitch for a while

@Doug: I thought it was really cool, but yeah apparently they are becoming quite the nuisance!

It'll be hard to make teams.

@Basile Pesso: Hehe... interesting observation, but true nonetheless

@Devi: I hope so... but I will have to wait until fall!

CElliottUK from Reading, United Kingdom

Haha! All we get is pigeons-and their poo!

30 Apr 2013 3:07pm

@CElliottUK: Believe it or not snow geese come with their fair share of poo too

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

Some giant snowflakes anyway! A very cool scene of these geese feeling right at home.

30 Apr 2013 3:56pm

@Steve Rice: They did look like giant snowflakes when they were in flight... it was pretty cool!

Adela Fonts from Barcelona, Spain

A flock of geese... Great look!

@Adela Fonts: Thanks a lot!

Rick from Toronto, Canada

1. It's your blog. If you want to call it a blanket, a blanket it is :-)
2. They stand out very nicely against the green grass, which makes them look extra snowy.
3. It's VERY cool when you can stop to watch a flock of snow geese take off from the suburbs. Much cooler than watching mall rats search for their vehicles in the vastness of commerce-paved parking areas.

@Rick: Thank you for empowering me, Rick :-D

Sue-Ann from Quebec, Canada

tu te rends comptes quand les équipes vont revenir, ce qu'ils auront laissés comme cadeaux...

@Sue-Ann: Ha! Merci :-)

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

They seem to be forming teams! They look so bright next to the grass.

30 Apr 2013 6:02pm

@Ruthiebear: Yeah there are like 5 white teams!

Patrick M. from Lille, France

Great capture,They would also play well

30 Apr 2013 7:13pm

@Patrick M.: Everybody seems to agree with you... but I can't see snow geese being very good at soccer

Abena from Illinois, United States

Your framing is perfect and yes: agreed, it is pretty awesome to stop and watch a flock of snow geese flying by in the middle of the suburbs :-)

@Abena: Thanks! I was wondering if I should have tried to crop out the sidewalk... but oh well, it's there now for all time.
