You need a large mug of beer to survive a Friday night at the Savoy... especially one following the day when the monthly Welfare checks are doled out. You can also expect a boisterous crowd that will sing along one minute and get scrappy the next. You can also expect to be groped by both sexes regardless of your own sex. Yeah, the Savoy is pretty awesome... I'd play there again for sure.

Looks like a very communal sort of bar, I'd feel at home there.

@Curly: Oh it's communal all right... the kind of place that opens at 9am and still has the New Year's decorations up :-)

Rick from Toronto, Canada

A great visual and write-up to convey the place vividly. Every town has its unpretentious communal watering holes, and they are vital. Bless 'em, and bless you for adding to their fabric.

27 Feb 2013 3:53pm

@Rick: I kind of like the vibe there... even though I wouldn't necessarily ask my friends to see me play there.... I like it.

So, here's the choice....Stay at home, watching daytime TV, ot be part of "it". "It" isn't always that great, it involves people, it involves the Police, it involves shit that you truly aren't interested in, it involves being a bit shaken up. Viva it. Inject us both with a lethal injection when we shy away from ..... it.

@CElliottUK: You got it! :D
