Fan Favourite

Posted by
Mooie (Vancouver, Canada) on 16 October 2012 in Lifestyle & Culture.

During the encore a fan held up a sign claiming she knew the drummer.

"Matt, I dated you at Tech!"

I did not get a picture of the sign... but here is a shot of Matt in action.

54-40 has a lot of hits that the vast majority of Canadians born in a certain decade know at least the chorus of... but only a true fan can sing along to "Baby Ran"

I am not sure how or when, but posting on this blog has become my most accurate platform for creative expression. It's so inspiring to browse through other blogs and every comment is very appreciated!

gerard1948 from Santiago de Compostela, Spain

Beautiful, colors and framing are superb, very nice action of the drummer. Great shot. I love.

@gerard1948: Thanks! I was happy to get one where someone on stage was not too blurry!

kiwisa from North Shore, New Zealand

Love the idea of the fun making herself known. :)

@kiwisa: It was pretty gutsy, I think so too!

omid from mashhad, Iran

very nice & amzing!
so beautiful colors & lights!

@omid: Thanks a lot!

CElliottUK from Reading, United Kingdom

Just had a listen to the link. Very laid back, very soft rock, very gentle stuff. I can see why there wouldn't be any troubles at their gigs. Thinking about the sign she held up.... I wonder what would have happened if he had seen it...or maybe he did.....

16 Oct 2012 7:00am

@CElliottUK: Thanks for checking the band out! Though I think they'd prefer mellow over soft or gentle :-) He did see the sign... mostly because the singer read it out to us all. The drummer smiled and waved. :-) Vancouver is a peaceful city... even our riots are kind of laid back.

Melocoton from Salamanca, Spain

moments of emotion and adrenaline, move your hips to the music, fantastic mooie

16 Oct 2012 7:19am

@Melocoton: Yeah, for sure! Thanks :-) This is one of my fav tunes of theirs

Mhelene from Villiers-sur-Marne, France

Superb ambiance and great colors and composition !

16 Oct 2012 9:02am

@Mhelene: Thanks a lot! Notice how much close I managed to get to the stage :-)

Hiro from Kyoto, Japan

You captured the really hot moment !

16 Oct 2012 9:19am

@Hiro: Thanks! I tried to at least :-)

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

Nice capture. Just had a listen, it's a great track, it's a pity they didn't make it this side of the pond

16 Oct 2012 9:40am

@Doug: Thanks for listening! And yes, it is too bad they never really caught on anywhere outside of Canada... except that it meant we got them all to ourselves! :-)

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

I love the dynamics created by the stage lighting, always difficult to get good exposures in these conditions.

16 Oct 2012 9:41am

@Curly: Thanks for appreciating that, Curly! Yeah, I did have my phone in front of my face for a good few minutes trying to get something worth sharing. I think it was worth it! I made sure I spent most of the show rockin' out!

Mariana Maoduš from Waterloo, Canada

Love mood here. Super tones.

16 Oct 2012 12:26pm

@Mariana Maoduš: Thanks a lot :-)

Rick from Toronto, Canada

Oooo yeah, cranking up the volume and colour for this one, huh? I dig it, and drummers can be skanks, just like anyone ;)

16 Oct 2012 3:14pm

@Rick: :-) I do like these guys and this song a lot! In the end the drummer wasn't totally a shank... he smiled and waved at the woman when the singer read out the sign. What else could he do, right?

Ainsley from Derbyshire, United Kingdom

Stunning over all effect, atmosphere captured very nicely, as Rick suggests, It feels loud.

16 Oct 2012 5:28pm

@Ainsley: It was pretty loud... but probably a lot less loud than they were a decade ago :-)

Adela Fonts from Barcelona, Spain

The protagonist's hand in the foreground ... and hands battery ... Excellent image!

16 Oct 2012 6:14pm

@Adela Fonts: Ha, yeah.. thanks a lot, Adela :-)

Nelida De La Fuente from Tres Arroyos, Argentina

Genial! The light illuminating the beautiful image. Good colors. Greetings.

16 Oct 2012 10:02pm

@Nelida De La Fuente: Thank you very much!

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

Neat shot. I like those rays of green light and the green tones on the lady's hair in the foreground. They frame the scene well.

17 Oct 2012 4:59pm

@Steve Rice: Thanks! I wish the back of her heads wasn't the part of the frame that was in focus, though :-)

Philou04 from Manosque, France

Great dunamic shot, light and framing.

@Philou04: Thanks a lot!
