The Doors II

Posted by
Mooie (Vancouver, Canada) on 26 September 2012 in Abstract & Conceptual.

This one opens to the exercise room in the building where I live. It is currently under construction.

Check out a super young Ed Vedder doing a cover of "Break on Through"

I am not sure how or when, but posting on this blog has become my most accurate platform for creative expression. It's so inspiring to browse through other blogs and every comment is very appreciated!

Stephen from Canberra, Australia

Wonderful abstract - almost like the earth's jungle or swamp seen from far above! Cool link as well.

Basile Pesso from City of Aminus, Paris, France

Interesting abstraction with, as you know, a sharpness problem :)
I'll be back to listen to Eddie-Jim !

26 Sep 2012 8:28am

@Basile Pesso: Thanks, and yes this time it was the exposure (I don't like the flash, but I didn't hold still very well). The track is well worth coming back to if you have the time. You can see the fashion that became Grunge rock in it's infancy :-)

Basile Pesso from City of Aminus, Paris, France

It's strange to see Eddie with The Doors ! Perfect live sound and vocal strength.
But it's a song I've never really loved.
I prefer Peace Frog or Love her Madly, for example.

2 Oct 2012 1:49pm

@Basile Pesso: How can you not like Break on Through? I was happily surprised at how much I enjoyed his rendition of a classic. I think we may not feel the same way about Peace Frog, but Love Her Madly might be my fave Doors tune.

Basile Pesso from City of Aminus, Paris, France

To me, Break on Through is a kind of rock-blues, quite boring, just going on on a grey line.
A bit like L.A Woman, but I prefer L.A Woman.

10 Oct 2012 8:50am

@Basile Pesso: Yeah, LA Woman is a good tune... :-) I don't know to me, something is good because it's good, even if it's a little repetitive. I kind of feel that way about some Bob Marley tunes... even though I love him... like redemption song is a great song... but man talk about going on on a grey line!

Basile Pesso from Paris, City of Aminus, France

Yes, I feel the same bore about Bob Marley.
Redemption Song is to me one of the excellent songs of him in a general production which leaves me quite cold (particularly the very famous songs).
I was not talking about repetition because you have great songs with repetition motives, more about composition and chords progression.
Yes, a grey mine, like the Black Keys...:)
