Log Ride #1

Posted by
Mooie (Vancouver, Canada) on 17 September 2012 in Sport & Recreation.

Sometimes the road less travelled leads you to obstacles... like a narrow ladder bridge onto a natural log ride. In truth this particular stunt was a lot tamer to the ones at the top of this run (that I walked down!). This trail is called Dirty Diapers... wonder why?

I am not sure how or when, but posting on this blog has become my most accurate platform for creative expression. It's so inspiring to browse through other blogs and every comment is very appreciated!

rem_la from Villiers, France

@rem_la: Merci!

farNaaz from Iran, Iran

I love it so much . Colors and light is wonderful . If it is a road for cycling everything is more more beautiful .

17 Sep 2012 5:46am

@farNaaz: Thanks and yes, it is a trail for biking and the beauty of it is one of the many things that draws me to the sport :-)

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

I like the wild colors for what has to be a wild ride.

17 Sep 2012 5:46am

@Steve Rice: Thanks! Yes, it was harder than I thought :-)

gerard1948 from Santiago de Compostela, Spain

The colors are very beautiful, they are natural? A nice composition and certainly a pleasant walk.
Good week.

17 Sep 2012 7:48am

@gerard1948: Thanks!... but I must confess not totally natural as I did add saturation to this photo, plus cropped out a tree with a ribbon on it because it looked strange.

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

I leave such runs to my fifteen year old son, I've had enough spills in my life :-)
Great colours and textures in the shot.

17 Sep 2012 7:56am

@Curly: Thanks a lot! You should reconsider... it's a lot of fun! I am not exactly young myself and my dad is 63 and he gave it a go :-D Although.... falling off does tend to leave a mark.

omid from mashhad, Iran

wow!

17 Sep 2012 9:51am

@omid: Thanks!

yalda from Iran

@yalda: Thanks a lot!

maurizio jaya costantino from Trieste, Italy

dirty diapers...uhhmmm !?

17 Sep 2012 11:05am

@maurizio jaya costantino: I know, right? The top is very steep with a lot of gnarly stuff you don't see until you are almost on (or not on) it... so I think it's trying to say you will soil your pants if you go down. I guess trail builders have potty mouths - there are a lot more crude trail names!

Stephen from Canberra, Australia

Tough trail and eerie rainbow bridge!

17 Sep 2012 12:59pm

@Stephen: Yes, I am not a huge fan of the wood work stunts here.... but it's what we are known for so I'm getting better - the trick is to commit! Thanks for commenting :-)

Hiro from Kyoto, Japan

Beautifully captured.

17 Sep 2012 1:11pm

@Hiro: Thanks a lot!

Nicou from Sion, Switzerland

Fantastique graphsime de tronc et effet de lumière une mervielle.

17 Sep 2012 1:54pm

@Nicou: Merci beaucoup!

Rick from Toronto, Canada

I love those B.C. forests, but this looks a bit anarchistic for my liking ;) I think I'd make do with a good hike instead. Excellent light and mood in your woods pic.

17 Sep 2012 2:59pm

@Rick: Ha why anarchistic? Because the ladder bridge is not wholly natural or because we are speeding up (though slightly) the decay of an old growth log? Or..... ? Personally I think it's getting a second lease on life... were it not for this trail it would still have fallen.... and it would not have been appreciated. Although..... it would have decayed naturally and hosted other living things in the process.... ;-p Thanks for the comment!

CElliottUK from Reading, United Kingdom

The colours here are amazing, like the dirty diapers were filed with red and green paint, and thrown around the place

17 Sep 2012 3:06pm

@CElliottUK: pfffft! If I was drinking coffee I would have spilled it everywhere... and that would have resembled dirty diapers! I was heavy handed with the saturation to get that diaper paint effect, but other than that... what you see is what you get. :-) You quite often say funny things!

yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greece

great atmosphere, scenery and colors

17 Sep 2012 4:04pm

@yiannis krikis: Thank you very much!

RBL from Oxford, United States

Beautiful colors in this scene and great name for the trail!

17 Sep 2012 6:28pm

@RBL: Thanks! I think it's funny too, but there are other trail names that are even dirtier.

Baldwin from Bejuma, Venezuela

Wonderful forest scene ... colors and light are just gorgeous !!! Funny name of this beautiful trail ...

17 Sep 2012 7:48pm

@Baldwin: Thanks a lot! Almost all of the trail names are funny... either rude or strange.

Nelida De La Fuente from Tres Arroyos, Argentina

Great capture with shadow, light and reflection. Spectacular colors. a hug

17 Sep 2012 9:10pm

@Nelida De La Fuente: Thanks a lot!

Rick from Toronto, Canada

Nahhh.... anarchistic against my skeletal structure, was what I meant ;-) , but I like your riffing reply !

18 Sep 2012 10:16am

@Rick: Haha oh! I didn't mean to come across as rifling.... just huber curious!

Adela Fonts from Barcelona, Spain
