Common Ground

Posted by
Mooie (Vancouver, Canada) on 3 August 2012 in Sport & Recreation and Portfolio.

Waiting for the rest of the crew at the top of Angry Pirate :-)

No expectations, no awkward conversations. When I am on the bike it's the only time I can push all other thoughts away and really just be in the moment. A friend calls the bike park his "happy place". I think it's one of mine, too.

I am not sure how or when, but posting on this blog has become my most accurate platform for creative expression. It's so inspiring to browse through other blogs and every comment is very appreciated!

João Mourão from Lisboa, Portugal

Nice perspective. Like the treatment.

@João Mourão: Thanks!

Basile Pesso from City of Aminus, Paris, France

This title makes me think of a Lou Reed's song.
Yes, any stuff when you can push away the thoughts is good !

@Basile Pesso: Yeah, some call it avoidance, but I call it being in the moment ;-p

Stephen from Canberra, Australia

Love the way the bike tyre fills the foreground with its gritty tones.

@Stephen: Thanks! I tend to like a lot of grain in my photos, maybe because I think that life is beautiful, but gritty too.

Rafael from Talavera de la reina, Spain

The framing is wonderful. It´s a bit hard, but I like, and helps to understand your words. Have a nice day.

@Rafael: Thanks... I kind of wish I had thought about the light a bit more, but... something to think about in the future.

Rick from Toronto, Canada

Yeah, I like your framing with this tire up front, too. The gritty processing feel works for the symbolism of the physical workout that a good ride gives, and I can definitely connect with your thoughts here. I love to cycle, too, because of my love-hate relationship with city life, and if I couldn't get out on various trails to escape the inner and outer of it all... well, it's the same as music making to stay semi-sane. I'm sure you know !

3 Aug 2012 12:44pm

@Rick: Thanks! Yes, creative outlets totally help keep one sane... it's what I turn to when I'm ready to work through something. If I want it to go away for a few hours, that's when I hit the bike!

Nicou from Sion, Switzerland
